About Sozo
Sozo is a ministry tool created at Bethel Church in Redding, California (go to www.iBethel.org for more on the church; go to www.BethelSozo.org for more on the ministry). A “Sozo” is not a counseling session, but an environment in which deep inner healing takes place.
The name comes from the word we see in the Bible that is often translated as “saved,” but it means more. Bethel suggests the word means “saved, healed, delivered.” On the Bethel site, we see the word used for:
- Salvation (“Confess with your mouth, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved / sozo”- Romans 10:9).
- Healing (“Jesus said… take courage, your faith has made you well / sozo- and at once the women was made well / sozo”- Matthew 9:22).
- Deliverance (“Those who had seen it reported to them how the man who was once demon-possessed had been made well / sozo”- Luke 8:36).
In other words, Sozo is the total package- complete healing and wholeness that touches body, soul, and spirit. If you’re interested in learning more about the word sozo, I’ve written more extensively about it on my blog site.
During the training session, we’ll hit the four most commonly used tools during a Sozo session. You’ll be equipped to start ministering using these tools- whether in Sozo sessions or on a prayer line or some other ministry venue. The tools we will hit are:
- Father Ladder
- Four Doors
- Presenting Jesus
- The Wall
The Sozo site says, “By using these tools and following the Holy Spirit, wounds are healed, strongholds broken, truth revealed, and doors closed.” You can learn more by going to the Bethel site’s FAQ page.
